Common problems we fix
- Key won't turn — usually a worn cylinder, dirty pin chamber, or misaligned lock
- Key won't come out — often a broken or worn return spring inside the cylinder
- Broken key inside the lock — we extract the broken piece and assess what else needs work
- Lock won't latch or stay locked — usually a strike-plate misalignment or worn latch
- Stripped lock hardware — handles, levers, or thumbturns that spin without engaging
- Deadbolt that grinds or sticks — internal wear, debris, or door alignment issue
How we diagnose
Call us before you come in. Most lock problems can be narrowed down on the phone — we'll ask what's happening, what brand and rough age the lock is, and whether you have a working key. From that, we can usually tell you:
- Whether the issue is the lock or the door alignment
- Whether it's a repair or a replacement situation
- Whether to bring the lock to the shop or schedule a visit
- What to expect for time and approach (we'll always tell you cost when we see the work)
Repair vs. replace
We default to repair when it makes sense — it's faster, less invasive, and often more affordable. But some failures point to deeper wear, and replacement is the right call. We'll tell you honestly which path is better for your situation.

- → Smart locks — often the right upgrade when an old lock fails
- → Home lockout — if you can't get in because of the broken lock
