  • Condo and apartment specialty keys — keys for proprietary multi-family systems
  • Storage unit specialty blanks — uncommon storage facility keys
  • GM roof rack keys — frequently lost, never stocked at hardware stores
  • Skeleton keys and warded keys — for old interior doors, antique furniture, and historic locks
  • Safe deposit box keys — with proper authorization from the bank or owner
  • Mailbox keys — including some USPS cluster box and apartment building mailbox keys
  • Padlock keys — for high-security and uncommon padlocks

How it works

  1. Bring your key (or the lock itself) to 7711 Inwood Rd during business hours. Walk-ins welcome.
  2. We identify the key type and check whether we have a compatible blank. Identification is free.
  3. If we can copy it, we'll quote the price and cut it on the spot — usually in minutes.
  4. If we can't, we'll tell you who can — sometimes that's the manufacturer, sometimes a specialty supplier we can refer you to.

Why we can do what hardware stores can't

Hardware stores stock only the most common 20 or 30 key blanks. We carry several hundred — including blanks for keys that haven't been manufactured in decades. We also have the cutting equipment for specialty profiles (high-security keys, skeleton keys, warded keys) that big-box key kiosks aren't built for. And we've been doing this in Dallas since 1950 — there's not a lot we haven't seen.

Common questions

Frequently asked

Bring it in — identification is free and takes minutes. If you can't get to the shop, call (214) 351-3942 with as much detail as you can: what brand is stamped on the key (if any), what it opens (antique furniture, condo door, storage unit, etc.), and roughly when it was made.

Yes. Skeleton and warded keys are one of our specialties. We carry the blanks and have the right cutting equipment — almost no hardware store does.

Often yes. Bring the lock cylinder to the shop (or call us to come look at it). For many lock types, we can decode the pin configuration and cut a working key without an original.

No. We'll tell you within minutes whether we can copy your key — for free. You only pay if we cut.

We'll tell you who can. For some manufacturer-restricted keys (certain high-security systems), we'll point you to the manufacturer's authorized program. For unusual specialty keys, we can sometimes refer you to a specialty supplier.
